Introduction
BoardCAD is an open source CAD/CAM-system for surfboards. With the release of version 2.0, the CNC module has finally become part of the official release. The new version also includes an updated user interface with new icons, support for several languages, 3D editing, and a user defined look and feel. Changes has also been made to the internal geometry model for improved surface quality. As before BoardCAD can read files from aps3000, shape3D, surfcad and akushaper. It exports to STEP, DXF, and STL. Since BoardCAD is written in Java it works on any platform like Windows, Linux, and Mac OS.
Installing BoardCAD
The easiest way to start BoardCAD is to use Java Webstart. Java webstart is included when you install the latest version of Java. If you don't have Java installed you can find it here. By using Java Webstart you automatically make sure that you are using the most recent stable version of BoardCAD. This should suite most users.
To start BoardCAD, click here. Note that BoardCAD v2.0 is only available for systems that support Java 1.6. If your computer does not support Java 1.6, you will be restricted to the Java 1.5 version of BoardCAD 1.0.
You can also choose to install a specific version of BoardCAD by downloading an executable Jar-file for that version from the Download:BoardCAD page.
